RENT CEREMONY 2006

This year’s Rent Ceremony, held on a gloriously warm and sunny evening of the Longest Day, heralded several key changes for the Trust. Geoff Holland, the Chairman since 1992, retired from his post on the day of the event, handing over to Raymond Cooper, formerly the Trust’s lawyer, whose appointment was confirmed by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. Leana Pooley, the greatly respected and tireless Trust Administrator for the past fourteen years, also bowed out into retirement. Finally, the owners of the Central Market and other adjoining properties, Scottish Widows and Henderson Global, announced that they were selling the lands on which the Trust holds its 150 year lease.
