MEMBERSHIP
The Trust invites applications for ordinary membership from those
who live, work or is interested in the Covent Garden Area.
The
Trust is governed by a Council of not more
than 24 members.
The
Chairman is nominated by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister,
other places are taken by nominees of the following organisations:
- Visit London
- Royal Institute of British Architects
- Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
- Theatres Trust
- Greater London Assembly
- Westminster City Council (2)
- Camden Council
- Covent Garden Community Association
- Royal Town Planning Institute
- Covent Garden Business Forum
- Institute for Historic Building Conservation
In accordance with the Memorandum and Articles of Association, the remaining places on the Council are taken by ordinary Trustees who are elected by fellow members at the Annual General Meeting. They stand down after three years but can then offer themselves for re-election for a further three years. Ordinary Trustees, having served for the appropriate period, may only stand for election again after a period of not less than three years.
The
Trust has a duty to maintain a balance between resident and non-resident
members. Applications for membership have to be submitted to the
Council for approval and will be dealt with in the order in which
they are received.
